Frequently Asked Questions
What are my up-front costs?
None. If there is any equipment added to your machine for MartinMax, we cover that cost.
Is this only for new machines?
No. Current machines with remaining warranty or machines eligible to purchase more warranty time qualify for this program.
I have a warranty…so why do I need MartinMax?
Extended warranty coverage falls short of covering all the expenses related to a warranty repair.
Items such as: travel charges, hose failures, deductibles freight charges, pickup and delivery of equipment needing shop repair are all expenses left to you . With MartinMax, we cover all of these items.
What does it cost me if I don’t operate my machine?
Nothing. You are only billed for hours put on the machine.
How long can I have my machine protected for?
Coverage length can vary by contract. Most will cover a new machine for five years and in some cases longer coverage terms are available.
What happens if my machine is accidently damaged?
Damage caused by neglect, abuse, accident, vandalism, operator error, act of nature, or fire are not covered by MartinMax. However, oftentimes, such damage is covered by your owner’s insurance.
Does my machine need regular oil or analysis?
As of June 9, 2008, machines require regular oil analysis as a condition of warranty. This would normally be your responsibility. With MartinMax, we perform all the required sampling, processing and submitting of samples to John Deere.
What is JDLink and how can my operation benefit from it?
JD Link is an equipment management system available in 3 levels of service: Express, Select and Ultimate.
Express is an all-makes system that gives you daily reports on hours, machine location, geo-fencing, curfew, and maintenance tracking.
Select is an all-makes system including everything Express offers with the added feature of expandable sensor capabilities and enhanced geo-fencing, curfew and maintenance tracking.
Ultimate provides everything Select does as well as engine diagnostics and fuel consumption monitoring, gear selection, component pressure and temperature and a full-featured diagnostic information retrieval capability. Several new models of John Deere equipment come standard with JDLink Ultimate.
Having JDLink provide this level of visibility to your equipment assists you in making better jobsite planning and equipment utilization choices. For additional information, visit www.johndeere.com/jdlink
What is a filter bypass system and how can it benefit me?
Bypass filtration provides an additional filter unit that works in conjunction with your machine’s hydraulic system. It removes contaminants and water, which extends component life as well as fluid drain intervals. Bypass filter systems draw a small flow of oil from the hydraulic system, filter it to extreme levels, and return it to the reservoir. The small amount of flow is why bypass filter systems are so efficient. They’re not affected by fluctuations in flow or pressure like mainstream filters.
Hydraulic bypass filters are equipped with a high-efficiency, micro-filter element that uses a radial flow path. The element is made of a unique 0.5-micron cellulose media that captures far more particles than the conventional 10- to 15-micron full-flow filters. It retains the destructive smaller particles of contamination and absorbs water. Note that elimination of water helps prevent chemical deterioration and the formation of harmful acids and sludge.
Who performs the scheduled maintenances?
We do… We supply all the materials and labor to perform all scheduled services at your job site or shop. We even cover the travel cost!
How do I schedule my machine service so it is convenient for me?
We will track the hours on your machine and will schedule a service time convenient for you.
How do I know my machine is being properly maintained?
We fill out a safety inspection form every time we perform a service. A copy will be left with the machine. We will let you know if we find a problem and together we can decide when it is best to take care of it. We are an active player in the success of properly maintaining your equipment, minimizing down time and decreasing your owning and operating cost.
What happens if it costs more to support my machine during the life of the contract than what I pay?
So long as the additional expense to support your machine was not caused by neglect, abuse, accident, vandalism, operator error, act of nature, or fire, we assume those additional expenses. It is up to us to support your machine. We want you to succeed in your business and we believe that John Deere and Martin Equipment are the way to make that happen!
